Our laboratory is focused on measuring the utilization of nutrients from feedstuffs by pigs through the use of ileal and total tract digestibility procedure, nutrient balance study, and growth performance studies. Several studies have been conducted and several studies are also being currently conducted.
Our metabolism and digestibility studies using pigs are conducted at Swine Reearch Center at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign located at south of First Street. The research facility is a __ sow level farm with farrow to finish operation. Our sample preparation (drying, grinding) are all done at Animal Science Lab. Dr. Stein's laboratory is located at room 205. Our laboratory is capable of dry matter, ash, crude protein, fat, and gross energy analysis.
