The distribution of spontaneous CJD (sCJD) is similar to that for vCJD; i.e. the spatial occurance is related to the populatation density (more people:more cases). This does not mean that a greater population density causes either disease, only that the greater the number of people the greater chance of a case of either sCJD or vCJD occurring.
