The risk of eventual BSE appearance is
partially related to the exposure of cattle and humans to Meat and Bone Meal
exported from Britain.

-
Meat and Bone Meal (MBM) was exported to many countries,
with a high exportation rate to Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines,
Ireland and France.
-
Whatever portion of the MBM that was used for cattle feed
has the potential to result in BSE cases appearring in these countries.
New cases of BSE that arise may then be spread by feeding MBM made in those
countries. This potential emphasizes the need for the global ban of ruminant
to ruminant feeding.
-
Britain stopped exporting MBM in 1996.
