
Most
of the BSE cases were in the United Kingdom, in particular in Great Britain.
However, several other areas within the UK have had incidences of BSE.
- Similar to
Great Britain, the number of cases peaked in 1992-1993 and have declined thereafter
(see below for exceptions).
- Note that the
number of cases are very low relative to Great Britain (the y-axis scale on
the plot for Great
Britain was 0-40,000 whereas the y-axis scale for this plot is 0-500.


Several non-UK
countries have had cattle with BSE.

the peak incidences in these countries often occur after the 1992-1993 peak
within the UK.
- Several countries
outside the UK have a peak incidence for BSE between 1997-1999; about a 5
year lag behind the UK.
- Probably the
non_UK cases were caused by feeding BSE-containing MBM
exported from the UK.
